Cali Melnechenko- Water Authorizations Team Lead

Cali is a lifelong resident of Vancouver Island and the outer islands. Her early immersion in the natural environment started her on a path to a higher level of education in geography and sustainability and a career focused on sustainable water management. Cali has worked in a variety of water related positions with the Provincial Government since 2012. In 2019 she took on the role of Water Authorizations Team lead for the West Coast region where she became heavily involved in drought response in the region. Through this work, connecting with the community and Cowichan Tribes, she started to form an understanding of the complex, multifaceted, water scarcity challenges in the Koksilah Watershed.

Since that time she has been working with Cowichan Tribes and other Provincial staff to develop a long term plan for the Koksilah Watershed. She was a member of the Koksilah WSP Scoping G2G Steering Committee and now, in her current role as Water Resource Manager for the West Coast Region, provides support to the WSP Planning Team and G2G table.
